Isolationship; A Socially Distant Romance
Just like in a relationship, when one stops listening to the other, starts taking advantage, neglecting, disrespecting, taking for granted, the Earth has had enough. She is taking a break from us. And we have nothing to do but honor her wishes if we ever want to go back to work, hug our loved ones, attend an event - survive. It has come to this.
The deerbird spirit will find the opportunity within the pause. She will seek the deeper meaning behind such a tremendous call for isolation. A time for self-reflection. Looking back at what led to this, she will use the window of time to decide what needs changing. This social distance may find her with a partner, or with children, with both, or alone. Regardless of her environment, she will secure time to re-evaluate, ponder relationships past and present, become more aware of her role in their failures, their successes. She'll make time to write about the state of her heart. She will take walks, keeping her distance, down once busy streets or deep in the woods. She'll sit at a window or on her front porch and listen to the sweet sounds of spring's arrival. She will feel the stillness, embrace it. She will take time to truly connect to her partner, her babies, her sisters and brothers, her mother, perhaps even her father. She will allow rest, finally. If she is alone in her isolation, she will celebrate her solitude, pour herself a whiskey or a wine and listen, or talk, but mostly listen. She'll cook herself dinners, dance to music in her kitchen. She will speak to her best friend on the phone for hours, under moonlit nights or city lights. Together they will dig deep into the reason the Universe broke up with us. They will strategize upon how to get her back, and what kind of lover they will be to her. The kind of lover they've always needed, wanted, yearned for. The deerbird soul will recommit to showing up for her life. To making everyday a masterpiece. To living life as art. To meeting this time and space with unconditional love, in good times and in bad, with respect and presence, awareness and honesty. She will reignite the flame, the true romance that her one and most precious life deserves. She will embody the greatest artistic expression of all - herself.
Deerbirds will still find a reason to beautify. She will still get dressed, even for the life now spent mostly within the same walls. She puts on a dress to do the day, to FaceTime family, to take business calls, to travel backroads. She'll pair her favorite high-wasted flare denim with her crisp white button-up to listen to birdsong or Bob Dylan. She recalls her grandmother's claim that a true lady always wears a hat, and so, pays homage. She understands that current circumstances do not diminish her need for stylistic expression, even if no one is around to witness it. She gets that the energy this brings to her being emanates to reach its most desperate destinations. She will let her skin breathe, free of makeup, but still wear lipstick for her partner, her cocktail, herself. She will show up for these days in isolation with a strong and inquisitive mind, thirsty for the knowledge that each twenty-four hours brings. A renewed understanding of the world, her world, her inner space. The deerbird essence will find the gift within the global time-out, and sit with the empty silences in complete surrender. She will do the work, tend to the healing of her heart, her body, her home.
And when the day comes, she will be ready to re-enter. Transformed by a deeply profound restoration, she will contribute to the collective shift into higher energetic frequencies. She will emerge anew. Her heart opened, her mind clearer and quieter, her soul afire.
The world needs the deerbird within all of us now more than ever. Love and light and great awakening to you, deer ones.
